As you are aware the Conservative team in Queen's park have been fighting to get CCTV cameras in Charminster for a while as we feel this will help reduce crime in the area and will also help deter graffiti.
So we are pleased to announce that after months of negotiations on our behalf by Conservative Councillor David Smith with the council’s cctv strategy group it has been agreed that cameras will be installed in Charminster, probably over the next 12 months.
Councillor Smith said "The Cameras which will be monitored from the towns Central Police Station will bring added security for the residents of Charminster and help to reduce the mindless vandalism and graffiti that is plaguing the area.
The Conservatives are now pressing hard for cameras to be extended into Winton to give added security there. Should the Conservatives be elected at the May elections the cameras at Winton will be a priority."
We support this move but will also continue pressing as residents have requested for a camera on Bennett Rd as well.
